Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Sadhana Sevak app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch (App Store) and on Android (Google Play, package com.sadhana.tracker). Where the platforms differ, it says so.
Summary
- We (the developer) do not collect, receive, sell or share your data. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no crash-reporting services, and it has no servers of ours to send anything to.
- On Apple devices, your entries are stored on the device and, if you use iCloud, synced between your own devices through your private iCloud account. Apple runs that service; we can't see into it.
- On Android, everything stays on your phone. The app does not connect to the internet.
- Apart from your own iCloud sync, data leaves your devices only when you do it: exporting a backup, sharing a support log, or (on Apple devices) sharing a summary with a mentor.
What the app stores
On your device, the app keeps:
- Practice entries you record: chanting sessions and rounds, hearing (sravana), study, seva, custom activities, notes, reflections and gratitude entries.
- Health-related entries you type in or bring in from Apple Health or Health Connect: mood, water, sleep and wake times, exercise and rest.
- Reminder schedules and app settings, including app-lock settings.
- A diagnostic log for troubleshooting (app events, crash and exit reasons, timing, device model and OS version). Personal details are removed from it before it can be shared; see "Support logs you share".
None of this is sent to us.
iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch
iCloud sync. If you're signed in to iCloud, your entries sync between your devices through Apple's CloudKit, in your private iCloud database. Only your Apple Account can read it. Settings that belong to one device (for example, reminder times) stay on that device. You can turn iCloud off for the app in your device's Settings. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Automatic backups. The app keeps up to 30 recent backup snapshots inside its own storage on the device, so you can recover from a mistake. They are not sent anywhere.
Apple Health (optional, iPhone and iPad). If you turn on "Sync Sleep & Exercise with Apple Health", the app asks for permission to read and write three kinds of Health data: sleep, workouts and mindful minutes. It reads them to fill in your daily entries, and writes the sleep and exercise you record, plus your Sravana contemplation time as mindful minutes, so other Health apps see them. You grant each permission yourself in Apple's Health prompt and can change it any time in Settings › Health. Health data stays on your device and in Apple Health. It is never used for advertising and never sent to us.
Screen Time focus (optional, iPhone and iPad). If you choose apps to limit while you practice, the app uses Apple's Screen Time framework. Apple gives the app anonymous tokens for your choices, not the names of the apps or your usage, and the app keeps them on the device. Screen Time reports shown in the app are drawn by Apple's system on your device.
Mentor sharing (optional). You can invite a mentor to see a summary of your practice: your display name, the values on your dashboard, your trends, and today's time broken down by activity. It is shared through Apple's private iCloud sharing with the people you invite, and not through a public database. Your notes and reflections are not included. Your mentor can send guidance back the same way. You can stop sharing at any time, which removes their access.
Contacts (optional). When you set your display name for mentor sharing, you can pick your own contact card to fill it in. The app reads only the name from the card you pick and doesn't read your other contacts.
Face ID / Touch ID (optional). Used to unlock the app. Apple handles the biometric check; the app only learns whether it succeeded.
Widgets, Live Activities, Apple Watch, Siri and Shortcuts. These show your day on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and watch, and answer when you ask Siri or run a Shortcut. They use the same on-device data. Your iPhone and Apple Watch exchange round counts directly through Apple's watch connection. If App Lock is set to hide widget details, then while the app is locked your widgets, Siri and Shortcuts don't show your day.
Tips. Optional tips are in-app purchases processed by Apple. We receive no payment details.
Android
Everything stays on your phone. Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for this app.
Health Connect (optional). If you connect it in Settings, the app uses Health Connect, Android's on-device health data hub:
- Reads sleep and exercise sessions already recorded in Health Connect (for example, by a watch or another fitness app), so they appear in your daily log without re-entering them.
- Writes the sleep and exercise sessions you enter in Sadhana Sevak back to Health Connect, so your other Health Connect apps see the same record.
The app asks for each of these permissions separately, and you can grant, deny or revoke any of them at any time in Android's Health Connect settings. Health Connect data is processed only on your device. It is never sent to us, never shared with anyone, and never used for advertising. The app reads no other kind of health data.
Widgets and Quick Settings tiles. These show a summary of your day from the same on-device data. If app lock is on, you can hide widget details while the app is locked.
Permissions:
- Notifications: to show the reminders you set and the ongoing notification for a running session.
- Run at startup: to restore your reminders after the phone restarts.
- Vibration: for chanting round reminders and haptic feedback.
- Health Connect (sleep and exercise, read and write): optional; see above.
- Biometric (fingerprint/face): optional, to unlock the app. Android handles your biometric data; the app only receives a success or failure result.
- View network connections: to note, in the local diagnostic log, whether the device was online. The app does not use the network to send or receive data.
Backups you create
You can export a backup file and restore it later. On Apple devices you choose where it goes with the share sheet or Files. On Android you choose with the document picker. If you save it to a cloud service (such as iCloud Drive or Google Drive), that provider stores it under its own terms. We never receive it.
Support logs you share
If something goes wrong, you can preview the diagnostic log, add a note, and share it (for example, by email to us). Personal details are removed from the log before sharing. The note you type is sent as written, so leave out anything private. This happens only when you choose to. If you send it to us, we use it only to help with your problem and delete it on request.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Deleting your data
You can delete entries in the app, or remove everything by deleting the app. On Apple devices, also remove the app's iCloud data in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage. On Android, clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes everything. Backup files and support logs you saved or sent elsewhere must be deleted there.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data changes, for example if Android gains optional sync, we will update this policy and its effective date before that version is released.
